Jeff Heilbrun from Manchester, NJ donated his original photography of the railroad track crossing under Route 70 titled, “The Way of the Blue Comet”. The New Jersey Central Railroad passed through Lakehurst beginning in 1929 between Jersey City and Atlantic City offering luxurious accommodations on its three-hour excursion. The Comet service ended in 1941. Visit the Lakehurst Museum to learn more about the NJ Central Railroad. Our thanks to Jeff Heilburn for his donation and to our exhibit curators Mary Early and Cathy Petillo.
